Key Tone has a special energy. The most obvious draw to me is how beautifully it’s
treated. Multiple clients have remarked to me how good it smells in there, like fresh
wood, and the fact that it’s perfectly climate controlled without the AC making any
noise is a boon to producers who often have to turn off their apartment ACs on the
hottest day of the year to record vocals…
Key Tone has an easy flow about it, where you can have multiple setups going while not
worrying about cables and junk being in the way. There’s a quality of choice, since
one can record as easily and cleanly in the control room as in the drum room. The
gorgeous piano and its stereo small diaphragm mic setup is a great always-on feature,
and one that finds its way onto my tracks quite often.
Noah has clearly put a lot of love into every piece of gear that’s in the studio,
with an emphasis on ease of use and a ‘plug and play’ mentality. In addition, Noah’s
easily available for any troubleshooting that might need to happen. His devotion to
the studio is a great pro for working at Key Tone 🙂
I’ve produced multiple clients at Key Tone in addition to working on my own solo
music. I’ve recorded drums, synths, flutes, horns, vocals, piano and guitars of all
kinds. The impressive array of microphones available, as well as the perfectly
curated collection of preamps and compressors, makes it easy to dial in a tone that
requires minimal mixing.
